Here at The Ever After Story we are design devotees and we couldn’t help but be in happy moods after coming across Blushing Confetti. Not only does Blushing Confetti create bespoke, beautifully assembled wedding invitations and stationery, their talents also extend to glittery numbers and individualised rubber and wooden stamps.
We are beyond excited to have Ellen, the creative behind Blushing Confetti, drop in and tell us more about herself, her wedding stationery loves and what we would find her doing in her spare time.
Tell us a bit about yourself and why you decided to start Blushing Confetti
I’d always known I would end up designing wedding stationery. I love beautiful stationery and I love weddings so after I got married this idea was fast tracked. Now I get to be involved with lots of weddings!
Blushing Confetti balances my commercial work. I’m a qualified graphic designer with a degree in Visual Communication Design and part of the week I’m lead designer in a design studio. I enjoy working with clients in the commercial world and developing brand strategies and campaigns but can’t go past creating unique and well-crafted stationery. I have a paper obsession to say the least.
Oh and I am a cat person!
What is your favourite style of stationery design?
I don’t think I have a certain style as such as a huge part of my commercial job is having the flexibility for all types of clients and projects. However, I am a huge believer in daring simplicity. I always try to have a statement element with a simple design and like to use beautiful paper stocks and printing techniques that make people go “wow.” After all it sets the tone for your whole wedding and it’s something to treasure long after the day.
Do you have any tips for brides meeting a wedding decor or invitation designer for the first time?
Know your style – look on pinterest and gather some ideas and if possible have a budget in mind.
When you’re not designing what would we find you doing?
When am I not designing that is the real question! Just kidding. Most of my outings usually involve food so I am regularly in Oxford Street, Bulimba, eating sushi or at the local coffee shops. On Saturday mornings I try to visit the West End markets to get my weekly dose of fresh flowers. I crave adventures! My husband and I travel a lot and only just got back late last year from living in London. We’re already planning our next trip!
