One of the best things about the modern day wedding is that you can incorporate as many or as few traditions as you like. Even the white wedding dress is no longer a requirement! Brides are really letting their personalities shine in dresses that are as colourful as the bride and groom themselves – because let’s not forget that white is a pretty unflattering colour on just about everyone!
Today we thought we’d share a few of our favourite colourful wedding dresses. We’d definitely get married again if we got to wear any one of these beauties down the aisle!
There possibilities are literally endless, when you’re not restricted to wearing the same ol’ colour on your wedding day. Your accessories, bridesmaid dresses, bouquets – almost every decision becomes just a little more fun. If you’re considering a non traditional wedding gown, here’s a few things to think about:
- Most veils come in white, or some variation. While it is possible to find a blush toned veil, or dye your veil a specific colour, sometimes you just have to give up on the veil and go for any of the other amazing headpiece variations that are available and on trend at the moment.
- Don’t forget your groomsmen! Wearing white makes the choices for the boys a little bit easier (hey, having one less decision to make when you’re planning a wedding can only be a good thing!) but if you’re wearing colour you’ll have to be a little more mindful of what your groom and his men are wearing.
- There will always be your traditionalists who think white is a tradition that should be adhered to – but if you love it, werk it!
- Consider colours you love and colours that look great on you. If you know purple looks amazing on your skin tone, then it’s the perfect wedding dress colour!
