We’ve had an internet crush on Hope & Lace for a while now, following her inspirational instagram account and watching from the sidelines in awe at her beautifully and originally styled weddings. So we were particularly honoured when Erin agreed to answer some of our questions. Erin is a lover of the wedding planning process and knows the best in the wedding business in Brisbane to help you plan a day that reflects you and your partner, and is stylish and fun. She’s chatting about her favourite colour combo, what she thinks brides should leave behind and what we’d find her doing on her days off.
Tell us a bit about yourself and your company
My name’s Erin and I’m the wedding planner who makes things pretty for Hope & Lace. I like to think Hope & Lace are a breathe of fresh air when it comes to wedding planning in Brisbane. I like to always stay current and help bride’s break free of any stigma’s that wedding planners are for the rich and famous or people who have no organisational skills when this isn’t the case at all. We also love to push boundaries a little and make sure that weddings totally represent our gorgeous couples. While I am super relaxed and am always just myself, I get things done!
How did you get into wedding planning and styling and what’s your favourite part of the job?
Many years of previous event and administration background led me here and I love it. The business has grown so much and I’m super proud of it.
My favourite part of the job would have to be the relief and excitement in my clients eyes when they have an idea and I suggest something to help achieve it – they understand that I ‘get it’. Of course its a beautiful industry to work in but it is also hard work as this special day is everything to my couple so I want it to be amazing for them!
Any great stories from working with a client?
Without sounding corny – they all are great stories in their own way. I don’t take it lightly that my clients trust me with their day, its very important to me. Just recently another industry friend had me coordinate the day for them which was a huge honour. Receiving thank you emails and being mentioned in speeches is always lovely too! I love seeing all our work, that can go on for over 12 months, all come together. And I still cry when my bride walks down the aisle.
Do you have a favourite colour combo and are there any trends you would love to leave behind?
My favourite colour combo is pink & red! With some gold. If there’s glitter in there, I won’t be mad either!
I would love to see chair covers left behind. And I would really like to see a shift away from the vintage/rustic wedding trend. Brisbane has so many amazing spaces for rad modern weddings – no need to travel out of town. You can still enjoy the benefits of catching up with friends the day before and after at your favorite local cafe.
When you’re not wedding planning what would we find you doing?
Hanging out with my little family. I love getting out and about in Brisbane and having picnics or a beer with friends at home.
